A sad day

Today is a very sad and numb day. This morning we found out that a friend of Stephen's, Jimmy, overdosed Saturday and passed away. Tonight we will be going to his visitation. Tomorrow is his funeral. It's hard to imagine that this is real. Jimmy worked with Stephen for a little while and would come over to the house afterwards. He was such a funny guy and always made us laugh. Although he was a guy that liked to make people smile he had had a rough short life. There were many things in his life that he shouldn't have to deal with. Jimmy was 27 and although he is gone we will never forget him. Please say a prayer for his family as I'm sure this is very hard on them.

First mud hole

First it starts with a water hose
Then you get your feet wet
Next thing you know you are swimming!

It's safer in the car.

This morning it was pretty out with the sun shinning and we went out to play. It started off innocent. We put her in play clothes so she could do whatever she wanted, but we didn't think she would be soaked by the time we went in. Sydney is very curious right now and really not scared of much. She had the best time playing in the water today. I foresee her loving playing in the water this summer!!!

Lots of Lovin

Puppy love from buddy!!
I finally gave Coy P lovin

Nanny love

Stephen's mom called us and told us that Nanny and Coy P were here in town from magnolia, so we loaded up and went to see them. Sydney immediately waved at nanny but then didn't want to go to her but nanny wasn't going to take no for an answer. Toward the end of the visit she finally sat in Coy P lap for a few minutes. Sydney loves animals and really loves Buddy because he will let her roll all over him so she had a good visit with buddy too. Sydney had a good day today with lots of lovin from everyone.

Happy Easter

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter. I hope everyone has a great day. I will be hosting Easter at my house this year. We have scrambled all day to get thing done at the last minute of course. Sydney got a early Easter present today from her daddy. She isn't too crazy about it yet but I'm sure she will love it before long. You will have to wait until tomorrow to see her surprise!!! =) I was very excited when he brought it home. Anyways have fun tomorrow and remember the reason we celebrate Easter. Don't forget to share that part as well with the little ones!!

Ketchup

Before we left for our Nashville trip Sydney started to go up and down her slide all by herself. Here are a few pictures of our big girl.

Wednesday night we went over to Adam and Shelly's house. The guys built horse shoe pits and the girls hung out and watched the boys work. Sydney took her four wheeler and played with their new puppy. It was such a beautiful day. We all had a great time.

Last night we went to my sister, Holly's house to dye Easter eggs for the first time with Sydney. Last year (which would have been Sydney's first Easter egg dye) Sydney was sick and couldn't participate in the fun. She acted like she knew exactly what to do. She would pick up an egg and throw it in the dye, which would splash everywhere. Then she would grab it out and then throw it on the table so it would crack! It was so funny. She had a great time and now she has little green hands. After we dyed Easter eggs we went to the church's new playground for a few minutes.

Nashville, TN

This past weekend Stephen and I went to Nashville, TN. We had a great time and it was so nice to have time for just the two of us to be selfish and be alone again. We hit all the tourist stops. Our legs hurt so bad from walking so much (kinda pathetic I know). Once we got to our hotel and checked out our love nest (haha) for the weekend we got ready to hit the town. We went to a very cool restaurant called The Aquarium. In the middle of of restaurant there is a huge salt water fish tank!!! All of the table are positioned so that we all have perfect view of the tank. Stephen asked me if I was finished and I said "yea" then I looked down to see that I had only ate a few pieces of shrimp. I was amazed and I wasn't even thinking about eating. I took several pictures because I wanted to be able to share how neat this place was to us.
After we finished our dinner, across from the restaurant was a huge sting ray tank. Once you get in they give you shrimp to feed the sting rays and you can touch them while feeding them (sorta like a petting zoo). We had plans for the both of us to feed/touch these sting rays. WELL, when I saw those things jumping up and splashing water at everyone else.......I was out. They totally freaked me out. You couldn't stand anywhere near the tanks or they thought you wanted to feed them so they would jump up and actually spit water at you. Okay I have to tell this story. While I was taking pictures of Stephen feeding the sting rays, there was a women there and she was getting soaked by letting these nasty things spit water and splash water all over her!!!! GROSS!
I hope she didn't have plans afterwards.

After dinner went down town to hit all the bars including Coyote Ugly!! After being out for a while we headed back to the hotel to crash.

We slept in til 10:30 that next morning and went downstairs to the breakfast buffet in our PJ's!! We had no cares in the world. I didn't feel so bad when I saw that other people were down there as well in their PJ's.

We decided to go to The Hermitage. This is where Andrew Jackson Lived. Beautiful plantation. I think this was my favorite part of our trip. We had headphones that guided us and gave us neat information along the way. I enjoyed learning about our history and even imaged how it would have been to live in those days.

After the Hermitage we went to a famous Bar B Que joint called Jack's. UMMMMM. Very good!

We spend more time at the Hermitage then we thought and didn't have enough time to go through the Country Hall of Fame so we spent more time down town before we went back to the hotel to get ready for the Grand Ol Opry.

Our hotel not only had a huge breakfast buffet, they also had free drinks and a guy that played the guitar for two hours in the evening. So we hung out at the hotel for two hours and met some people from Kentucky.

The Grand Ol Opry was planned for saturday night and we were soo excited. Both of us had never been there before. There was only two people there that night that we knew of (joe diffie and Buddy Jewel) but it was still very cool to be there.

Since we didn't get to go to the Country Hall of Fame on saturday we went on Sunday morning befoer we came home. Again very neat place to see all of the history of country music.

All in all we had a great time. It is so nice to be able to get away and to have "us time". Everyday is always about Sydney and as it should be so it's nice to be selfish and take time to renew our relationship and let loose!!!
Thank you to my sister holly for keeping Sydney so we could have this time.

Sydney's prize that we brought back was a tamborine!! She loved it.

and we're off

In the morning we leave for a much needed mini-vaca!!!! We are off to Nashville, TN. All that we have planned is the Grand Ol opry otherwise we are just going to take it as it comes. We are so excited to get away even if for a few short days. We aren't taking Sydney with us on our trip so we will miss her bunches but somehow I don't think she would enjoy this trip too much. My sister is always sweet to keep Sydney for us while we are away. Pray for a safe trip and for Sydney to have a great time with her cousins!

Sydney's first haircut!!

I have been contemplating on whether I should get Sydney's haircut. I don't want her to have bangs and want her hair to grow out BUT the ends look like a firecracker went off!! I never really knew why people took "the first cut" so serious until someone told me "well its because its the hair they were born with". Then all of a sudden I didn't want to cut Sydney's hair either!! Needless to say last night we went to Stephen's mom beauty shop and got her first little haircut. She did great (probably because it was Nana). She just sat there in the chair like a big girl. She would turn around every now and then to she what she was doing but other than that she was a sweet little angel.
